Have you ever put on an outfit thinking it is one of the cutest things you’ve worn in a long time and then look at yourself in the mirror and instantly change your mind? Like you think… “Wow! I have successfully figured out how to make myself look 8 years old again!”
Well if you haven’t, then you’re lucky.
But today’s outfit had the opposite effect! When I found this top at Target I immediately picked it up, trying it on was not necessary. I loved it so much I would have bought it no matter what. Once I got it home, my little friend named Buyer’s Remorse came along to tell me that I shouldn’t have purchased this. His go to attack was that a red polkadot peplum top would do nothing for me except make me look like Minnie Mouse.
Well I showed him! I paired it with my dark skinnies and nude pumps for a classy/semi dressy look. Then added to it with gold jewelry and a gold belt!

This super cute top is only available in stores so check out two other peplum tops I’m loving from boutiquetoyou.com and Zappos!
Let me know what you think of my Minnie Mouse look in the comments!
Happy Wednesday ladies and gents!
I’ve been staring at a blank screen for what feels like forever trying to think of what to write today. Well let’s be real, it hasn’t been forever… I’m being slightly dramatic. But, since I can’t come up with anything to say maybe I should just skip this part and move right on to the outfit of the day (which is one of my favorites so get excited!).
Yes, yes I should. So the outfit of the day involves red skinnies, a white tank, and my denim jacket!

Well, it’s a good thing I had a few photos for today’s post! Otherwise this could have been extremely boring… You could always make things more exciting by leaving me some love in the comments!
I’m starting to feel like I talk mindlessly about the same things every week. On Monday’s I talk about it being Monday. Fast forward to Thursday and I’m talking about how we’ve almost made it to the weekend.
So to spice things up a little bit, today I’m going to tell you a random story.
For a little background- my dad loves riding motorcycles. Seriously, it is his preferred form of transportation even when it’s raining slightly. Now that you know that…. I should also tell you (for those of you that don’t know) I live in a different state as my family. So naturally, I miss them a lot and random things make me think about them on a daily basis. The main thing that makes me think about my dad is seeing people riding motorcycles. Over the past year I’ve formed a habit of saying “daddy?” every time I see someone on a motorcycle. My favorite guy (other than my dad of course) tends to laugh every time I say it… my guess is he finds it slightly cute but also slightly annoying… o well!
Yesterday I had two moments like this. The first one turned out to be a large black man…. so definitely not my dad. And the second time was a woman. Needless to say, those moments are always interesting.
Now on to today’s outfit! This is a little dress I’ve had for a few years, it was my very first JCrew purchase! It’s classic and easy to wear many different ways. These shots are how I like to make it a little dressy and girly!

Enjoy your Monday folks!
I feel like a member of the royal family today…
CHECK OUT THEM JEWELS!!!
Just kidding. They are fake… duh. But they still feel super fancy!
This little ensemble was a little something I put together for a night out with some of my favorites to celebrate birthdays. I’m usually a pretty casual person (if you can’t tell from my previous posts) so nights out are slightly challenging for me.
I like to keep it classic and simple without being too over the top… SOOO when I found this black peplum top with lace detail I new it would be perfect for occasions like this. I’ve paired it with my dark skinnies and black pumps. Then jazzed it up a little with my new necklace and a skinny belt to accent the peplum!

How do you feel about my snazzy jewels? Personally, I love them! Especially the color… you just can’t go wrong with Kentucky blue!
Happy Monday ladies and gents! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! I definitely did!
What did it consist of? Well… let me just tell you.
Shopping. Lots and lots of shopping (mainly for decor for the new apartment I’ll be moving to in a few weeks). Quality time with my mom watching HGTV. Delicious food (home cooked and eating out). Church. Visits to the farmers market. And wrapping it up with a little Harry Potter.
I also ventured outside of my norm when it came to outfits this weekend. I bought a new chambray shirt from Forever21 a few weeks ago and I’ve been searching for the best ways to wear it. I think I found a few options this weekend!
First, I went with the denim on denim look for work on Friday. Of course, I always keep things casual so I paired this with gold sandals and simple gold jewelry.
Then on Saturday (yes… I wore the same top two days in a row. Judge all you want) I went super casual with mint shorts and sandals. This was perfect for a sunny day strolling through the famers market!

So you wanna know what the boyfriend’s comment on this top was? Since he wasn’t a fan of my wallpaper pants (check them out here… they are fantastic!) I assumed he wouldn’t be a fan of these festive shoulders. But surprisingly, he was- I can’t remember what his exact quote was but I know it was something along the lines of… “No, I like that top. Make’s you look more Texas”
Which way do you like best, denim or shorts? You can also see a similar outfit worn by the lovely Katie at Style Diary Blog here!
Fun fact about me… my favorite color is red followed closely by navy blue. I believe I’ve shared that little tid bit with you all before… but well I’ve got the memory of a gold fish so I tend to repeat stories.
But to be real… I come by that honestly. BOTH of my parents tell stories over and over again.
Anyways… I’m not here to chat about story telling. We’re talking about colors today.
So… now that you know my favorite colors… you should also know my least favorites. I’m not particularly a fan of orange or green. Because I don’t really like those colors, I don’t really like to wear them.
That being said… last year I found this little green gem at Francesca’s and I just couldn’t walk away without it. So I’m rocking a green top today. I’ve paired it with black denim, black heels, and of course gold accents for a slightly snazzy look.
This is what happens when the wind is blowing during outfit photos…

Now don’t get me wrong, I love this top. But I was really disappointed when I found the same top in blue two days after I wore this for the first time. At least I’ve added a little variety to my closet.
I literally risked my life for today’s outfit photos.
Not really, but I like the dramatics of saying I did.
Anyways… today will be short and sweet. Mainly because the dress I’m wearing is very sweet (and a little too short- sorry mom!)
I found this dress at the end of last summer and I just couldn’t pass it up. The great thing about this dress is that it can be worn so many different ways. It can be dressed up for a fancy night out with the girls or even a date night. Or you can add cowboy boots for a night of two stepping and line dancing. But my favorite way to wear this is with sandals and a denim jacket for a cute casual look (surprise surprise).
